May 2016, Scotland’s Whisky Month
What Kind of Whisky Are You?
It’s nearly here, the excitement is building and I for one can’t wait to follow the conversations #WhiskyMonth on Twitter and Instagram.
Whisky month was created by VisitScotland to focus and support an annual £5 billion industry (UK); “World Whisky Day” (21st May) is a day of global whisky celebration that invites everyone to try a dram and celebrate the water of life. The website has a register of events from South Africa and New Zealand to Singapore and Colombia (naturally stopping off in Scotland).
Having checked out quite a few of the events, I’m really liking the sound of the “Whisky Tasting Flights” in the Tokyo Bird, Sydney, Australia and Mexico City’s “Wallace Whisky Bar” tasting event; if your Spanish is good check out last year’s event:
The World Whisky Day website is also a free register for events, if you can’t find one you want to go to, create one! Invite some friends, buy some whisky and off you go.
Do you know the whisky best suited to your palate and lifestyle? If not, try their online quiz to find out: http://www.whiskymonth.co.uk/quiz/
Where will you be headed, what will you be doing, can I come too?
This Wednesday sees me travel up to Wester Ross again, to stretch my legs, drop in on the odd distillery and say hello to some old friends travelling the North Coast 500; maybe I’ll see you there? https://www.northcoast500.com/home.aspx
