Get to know the whiskey you can be a part of with Caskshare
The summer holidays here in Scotland and the weather is nice and wa..uhm..well...wet. Whilst dull and damp is not exactly ideal when you're planning to go on holiday, it's this kind of gloomy weather that makes Scotch whisky so special. Up on the Isle of Raasay these temperate summer days are already starting to shape the flavours of our Caskshare casks.
For a limited time only, we're offering all early bird Caskshare buyers up to 25% off shares. Whatever the weather - with this sort of discount, now is the perfect time to start building your whisky portfolio!
It's time for a closer look at one of the more unusual Casks we have up on Caskshare. For this one, Raasay Distillery has filled a Virgin Chinkapin Oak cask with unpeated spirit.

Chinkapin Oak, or Quercus muehlenbergii to use its full name, is a type of white oak native to central and eastern North America. Unlike French Oak or the more common American White Oak, Chinkapin Oak is not typically used in large scale cask production. With that being said, we are increasingly seeing distilleries experiment with different wood types and being rewarded for it. In the Pacific Northwest U.S, Westland Distillery has utilised the unique properties of Garry Oak to create their exceptional Garyanna American Single Malt. Glenmorangie successfully experimented with Chinkapin Oak to create this 1993 Single Cask Bottling. Considering these now go for £850 a bottle, our limited time price of £59 looks like a real bargain!
